Our technology allows for measurements starting from the ice thickness of 3 cm. High sensitivity of the receiver and use of effective embedded algorithms enable accuracy of 85 to 95 percent. 

Survey data are displayed on the screen of the device in real time as well as stored locally or sent to a remote server accessible by your smartphone at the site.

 Low power consumption, small size and weight and extremely comfortable design makes the device easy to carry around and hold even for prolonged periods of time. Average battery life is one day.

TECHNOLOGY

Ultra-wideband (UWB) radar has been used for the detection of humans, moving subjects, imaging in through-wall conditions, search and rescue, positioning indoors and public order and security because of its high range resolution and penetrability.

Principle of operation is based on short time radio pulse transmission in the environment. As radio pulses move into the environment, they are reflected from different layers of surface with different electrical and magnetic properties: air-snow, snow-ice, ice-water. Part of electromagnetic pulse energy is reflected, but part of it propagates further, thereby enabling the measurement of multiple layer parameters. The receiver captures reflected pulses and transforms them into a digital signal analyzed by a data-processing block which using implemented algorithms calculates the thickness of snow and ice.

Our device uses clocked comparator based UWB pulse radar sensor technology developed by IECS. This technology makes it possible to receive a periodically recurring signal below noise level, thereby improving the efficiency of the receiver and reducing the need for high radiated power. That contributes to energy efficiency, which is particularly relevant for use in mobile equipment and makes it very affordable.
